The victory over our sinful nature and death has been won for us by Christ.

The cross seemed like the end to the disciples. All of their hopes and expectations died on the cross with Jesus. Yet it is only through the cross that there would be life for them and each of us.

Jesus assures the thief hanging next to him on a cross that he will join him in Paradise. We are called to awareness of the trial and pain of those around us.

Jesus accepted the humiliation of a trial, torture, and crucifixion. He could have saved himself but he didn't for our sake.

Jesus felt compassion for the people he met. We are called to a similar life.

Jesus taught the disciples about faith, then tested their faith and finally called them to go out and preach, teach and serve. What does it mean today to be called to discipleship?

On Holy Thursday when Jesus washed the disciples feet, he called them to serve others. Today we are called to serve those around us.

How do we prepare for the King's arrival? Repentance leads to rejoicing!

The rush to celebrate our holy day helps us get focused but we need Christmas rest so we can rest in the promises of God and the grace that came down on that first Christmas.
