Destination: Resurrection

We have come full circle for in Jesus we become a new creation!

Jesus has his sights on something much greater than a temporary kingdom here on earth. His kingdom will be an eternal kingdom and His battle field will be on hill and His weapon will be a cross.

Jesus is our High Priest who offered not the blood of animals, but his own and his sacrifice was once and for all. He has interceded for us with the father and now we have direct access to the father.

Jesus is the fulfillment of all that God promised in the Old Testament. He is with us today and we need to listen.

The people had moved further and further away from God. The people insisted that they needed a king to be like all the other nations. Well, they became like every other nation throughout history….it ended in their destruction. When we move away from God there is no other alternative, but destruction.

God’s people now stand divided. The twelve tribes have now split between the northern kingdom and southern kingdom. In spite of their sinful behavior God will bring about his salvation.

David is the least likely of Jesse’s sons to be anointed king in fact he is left to watch the sheep while the rest attend the sacrifice. Yet this is the one that God has chosen to do mighty things in God’s name.

As God’s plan continues to unfold he gives us just enough reminders that this is His work, not ours. Gideon goes from 32,000 men to 300 and then takes on the Midianites just to make his point; “In order that Israel may not boast against me and their own strength saved her…”

It was time for God’s people to declare their allegiance and faith in him alone. He had made a nation out of the decedents of Abraham, brought them out of Egypt, and now into the Promised Land. God had given everything to them, now how would they respond?

When the cloud was over the tabernacle, the Israelites were directed to move. God has always given his people clear directions.
